Dr. Hall is excited to announce the culmination of her latest project in support of NICU babies and their families. She has spearheaded collaboration between the National Perinatal Association, Patient + Family Care, and the Preemie Parent Alliance to develop an online NICU Staff Education Course entitled “Caring for Babies and Their Families: Providing Psychosocial Support in the NICU.” The course, which launched in January, 2018 and is the first of its kind, has seven Lessons and will award seven CEUs. Topics include communication between providers and parents, providing emotional support to parents, how to involve parents in the developmental care of their babies, the importance of peer support, best practices for palliative and bereavement care as well as for discharge planning, and how to support NICU staff and reduce their risk for burnout.
It is our hope that entire NICU staffs will take the course at the same time, so as to transform the culture of the NICU towards truly providing comprehensive family support, and the course will also be available to individual NICU providers, both RNs, MDs, and other support staff. Download an informational letter about the course, and then check out a “sneak peek” of the course. For further details, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
